Meet Laura Newman

M.S.C.J., BHS, MHFA Instructor, GFI, CPT.

Trainer. Coach. Advocate for Mental Wellness.

Hi, I’m Laura—and I believe in the power of empathy to change lives.

I offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training because I’ve lived through moments when life felt heavy. Growing up with personal experience in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, I know what it’s like to feel unseen, unsupported, and unsure of how to move forward. What made a difference weren’t grand solutions—it was people. Strangers who listened. A kind word. A small suggestion that planted the seed of hope.

Those moments helped me begin to care for myself—and inspired me to help others do the same.

Today, I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to every training I lead. Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple sectors and communities to make mental health education more accessible, inclusive, and actionable:

  • I created and launched Integrated Wellness programming at a health club, combining mental health coaching, personal training, and lifestyle support into one holistic offering.

  • I’ve coached individuals one-on-one, delivered interactive webinars, led mental health workshops and book clubs, and trained teams at every level—from frontline staff to executive leadership.

  • My MHFA trainings have reached people in state government, corrections, education, healthcare, and the service industry, tailoring support to the real needs of each environment.

  • I’ve facilitated Communities of Practice to keep the learning going beyond the training room.

Whether I’m in a boardroom or a break room, my goal is the same: to create spaces where people feel safe, supported, and equipped to care for their own mental health—and for others.

You don’t have to be a therapist to make an impact. MHFA gives you the tools, and the confidence, to show up when it matters most.

This work is personal. And it’s my privilege to help build workplaces and communities where compassion isn’t an exception—it’s the culture.

Ready to build a stronger, more compassionate workplace?
